In the month that the UK experienced record high temperatures of 40 degrees, ECF were busy engaging with local communities about planned projects in their area. We held several webinars and in-person events, testament to our blended engagement approach that seeks to reach as many people as possible.
Here’s the roundup of the community engagement events we held this month!
Woolwich, Royal Borough of Greenwich
Starting in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, the team held four events (two virtual and two in-person) for the Investing in Woolwich project, continuing our conversations with local businesses, residents, and stakeholders about exciting plans for Woolwich town centre. This marks the second round of consultation on the project, and the team are enjoying hearing a range of ideas for proposed improvements to the Powis Street and Beresford Square in the heart of Woolwich.
Smallfield, Tandridge District Council
Next, the team were in Smallfield in Tandridge for the second round of engagement as part of the ‘Smallfield Opportunities’ project, sharing evolved designs for up to 300 new homes, a Primary School, and significant flood alleviation and highways infrastructure improvements. Well over 100 people visited the event and the feedback will be reviewed ahead of a final round of consultation later in the year, before the planning application is submitted.
Hawkhurst, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council
In the Kentish village of Hawkhurst, the team held a public consultation event and webinar outlining the plans for the land north of Birchfield Grove project, which included proposals for a new Medical Centre, new homes, and land for future expansion of Hawkhurst Church of England Primary School. This was the first opportunity for the community to learn about the scheme and provide their feedback, and we are looking forward to the ongoing conversations to be had.
Chadwell Heath, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham
Moving back to London and, more specifically, to Chadwell Heath, ECF hosted two drop-in events where we introduced the opportunities associated with the proposed redevelopment of the current CED Electrical Group warehouse and former Cricket Club. The team are excited to be working on this project that directly responds to the Council’s plans to transform Chadwell Heath with significant amounts of investment to bring new homes and jobs into the local area.
And that’s all for our July roundup! We’ve really enjoyed starting and continuing conversations with communities across London and the South East about all the exciting projects in the mix and look forward to many more in the future.
