Whilst we are all coming to terms with the end of Summer, the ECF UK team have kicked off the Autumn months with a bang. This September saw projects launching, planning applications granted and numerous engagement events ran by our expert team of engagement specialists, as well as a new addition to the ECF team!
Here’s a roundup of what has kept us busy this September:
Quieter Neighbourhoods, London Borough of Enfield
This month saw the launch of early engagement for two Quieter Neighbourhoods in the borough of Enfield. The project seeks to understand key ideas and issues from residents, businesses and stakeholders associated with delivering a Quieter Neighbourhood. The project team have worked closely with Enfield colleagues to so far deliver four drop-in events, a webinar, business surveying, school surveying and an online engagement hub. Such events have thus far highlighted the importance of delivering tailored and accessible engagement to ensure a representative approach. The team look forward to and are busily preparing for further engagement in October, including focused workshops with school children and disability groups.
London Borough of Newham, Cycle Future Route 7
The team have also been out on-street surveying in Stratford, talking to locals about the Phase 1 of the proposed new segregated cycle track that will support a better cycle link between Leyton, Stratford, West Ham and Plaistow. During this exercise, the team knocked on around 300 doors and had over eighty conversations with residents.
Maple Road Project, Penge
Next, the team have been in Penge, Bromley managing the pre-application engagement process for the redevelopment of a prominent local site. The team have engaged with well over 300 local residents, including online engagement, stakeholder engagement, resident door knocking and an in-person drop-in event. All feedback gathered as part of the engagement process has been independently analysed and will be reflected as far as possible in the stage of design.
Hartree, North Cambridge
Over September, the ECF team organised and facilitated three drop-ins and one webinar to give locals an opportunity to find out more about the Hartree project and give feedback both in-person and online. All three events, both online and in-person created an opportunity to hear the project team talk through the emerging proposals, ask questions, and give feedback.
Let’s Talk Armada Way, Plymouth
The team are busily preparing for the launch of the Let’s Talk Armada Way consultation in Plymouth next month. The project seeks to gather feedback on the proposed new scheme to transform Armada Way into a place that rejuvenates the city centre, making it more attractive to shoppers, residents, visitors and potential investors. ECF is preparing to launch a full, comprehensive and independent consultation programme on the new elements of the scheme that provides multiple and varied opportunities for the community to participate.
High Street, Slough
Slough Borough Council’s Planning Committee unanimously voted to grant planning permission for proposals to redevelop 46 – 56 High Street, Slough. The proposals included a mixed development, providing 104 residential units, a new nursery and associated communal terraces. ECF were pleased to work on this project with Rolfe Judd Planning and KKM Architects, leading the pre-application engagement process to support the planning application.

We are delighted to have welcomed two new additions to the ECF team – Gill and Elise!
