ECF would like to congratulate LandsecU+I and TOWN for receiving a commendation at the Thornton Education Trust’s Inspire Future Generations Awards for their work on the Hartree project in North East Cambridge.
The commendation was for Hartree’s Child-Friendly Design Strategy, which adopts a site-wide approach that enables children’s independence, mobility, access to play, and opportunities for social interaction. ECF have supported the project team in engaging deeply and meaningfully with children and young people, as well as experts across Cambridge, to develop and inform the strategy, which will ensure that Hartree is a safe and inclusive place that caters to the needs of children and young people.
The IFG Awards champion outstanding initiatives, organisations, and individuals who are bridging the gap between the built environment and young people. Hartree was entered into the Research – Pedagogy or Practice Based category, which was contested by a number of other fantastic projects. We were delighted to see the project pick up this award for all the work that has went into ensuring that Hartree will be a place designed with the needs of children and young people at its centre.
We would like to thank the IFG Awards team for hosting this event, and to congratulate all winners, commendations, and participants of this year’s competition!
